The Green Room Lounge

The Green Room Lounge is a cocktail lounge at 119 S 2nd St in downtown Oakland, named for the backstage room where actors and crew unwind between scenes. Owners Mikey and Jen Virts built it as a place to relax and talk with family and friends, and every drink and dish on the menu takes its name from an actor, character or play. It works for a quiet drink after work, a pre-show cocktail or a nightcap after a performance.

A Lounge Run by Theatre People

Mikey and Jen met as theatre majors at Frostburg State University and have spent more than twenty years producing, directing and acting. They encourage guests to support local theatre and point visitors to Our Town Theatre, a few blocks away. The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce and the county's Department of Business Development marked the lounge's grand opening with a ribbon cutting in September 2025. Ask the staff about any name on the menu and they'll tell you the story behind it.

The Menu, Act by Act

The menu is laid out like a playbill and changes with the seasons. Recent sections have included:

• Intermission (food): Fair Verona caprese pops, Willy Shakes' charcuterie with local cheeses and jelly, and Algernon's bread board with local breads and honey
• Pre-Show Cocktails: an Our Town Old Fashioned, an August Osage martini and a Proper Cup espresso martini
• Seasonal cocktails: drinks such as Ophelia's Tears, A Sidecar Named Desire and Elphaba's Potion
• Sunday Matinee: brunch-style drinks including Mame's Mimosa and Lady M's Bloody Mary
• Post-Show: canned and craft beers from breweries such as Manor Hill, Nepenthe and Burley Oak, plus mocktails like Galinda's Sparkling Tangawizi and non-alcoholic beers
