The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille

The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille is the Deep Creek Lake location of the Maryland-born sports bar chain, at 75 Visitors Center Dr in McHenry at the base of Wisp Resort. It's a family-friendly, sports-themed casual restaurant with dozens of overhead big-screen TVs showing local and national games. It's an easy fit for watching a game, a group meal after a day on the slopes or the lake, or a casual dinner with kids.

Inside the Deep Creek Restaurant

The building covers more than 8,500 square feet and was designed to feel like a mountain resort lodge, decorated with professional, college, high school and local youth sports memorabilia. Two large fireplaces warm the dining areas in cold months, and the Great Lodge room opens onto a deck and an outside bar that look out over the lake and surrounding mountains. The chain's first restaurant opened in Ocean City, Maryland, in 1976, and the Deep Creek location opened during the company's 40th anniversary year.

Food, Takeout and Parties

The menu leans on pub classics such as burgers and wings, with a happy hour menu as well. You can order online for pickup, and the restaurant offers a catering menu for gatherings. Groups can reserve a party through the chain's private dining page, which is handy for team celebrations or birthday get-togethers during a lake vacation.
