Tourist Trap is a Deep Creek Lake souvenir and gift shop on Garrett Highway (Route 219), at 19895 Garrett Hwy in Oakland. If you want something to take home from the lake, from a t-shirt to a glass for the cabin shelf, this is a good first stop.

Tourist Trap focuses on Deep Creek Lake souvenirs, with its own exclusive t-shirt designs and plenty of things for the whole family:

Kids can also make their own stuffed animal at the shop's Animaland station, which makes for a souvenir with a story attached.

From The Fort to Garrett Highway

The Tourist Trap began in the early 1990s as a souvenir shop at The Fort in McHenry and moved to its current home on Garrett Highway in the mid-1990s. The original owners, the Kesslers, sold the store to the Shafer family in late 2013, and the Shafers have since expanded the apparel designs and added many new gift and souvenir items. The staff add new items each season and are happy to help you find a particular memento.

Next Door to Christmas Chalet

The Tourist Trap shares its address with its sister store, Christmas Chalet, a year-round Christmas shop with ornaments, Department 56 villages and holiday decor. The two stores share a crew, so it's easy to visit both in one stop.

Stop in at the start of your stay for a lake shirt, or on the way home for that last souvenir.
