A Town on the National Road
The town's history page says Grantsville sits in the center of "Cornucopia," an 1,100-acre tract bought in 1785 by Daniel Grant of Baltimore, after whom the town is named. The National Road was built through the area between 1811 and 1818. The stone arch Casselman Bridge followed in 1813 and can still be seen from the state park at its foot.
Visitor information on the town's dining, lodging, shopping and events is on visitgrantsville.com.
