About
The Town Planner Community Calendar is a wall calendar mailed each December to homes in Western Maryland and the surrounding region, paired with a website, weekly events newsletter and mobile app. The local edition is published by TriState Town Planner in the Cumberland area, with editions covering Allegany and Garrett counties in Maryland, Mineral, Hampshire, Hardy and Grant counties in West Virginia, and Bedford and Somerset counties in Pennsylvania.
A Calendar Built for Your Home Town
Each Town Planner is a full-size wall calendar with roomy date blocks for writing in your own reminders. Every month carries a full-color photograph of a local landmark or scenic spot, along with community events such as school closings, sports, festivals, church activities, music and art, plus coupons from local businesses. The regional publisher runs a yearly photo contest, and selected photos from local photographers appear in the area editions, including a Garrett edition. The calendar is mailed to more than 77,000 households across the region.
Posting Events and Advertising
Anyone can set up an account on TownPlanner.com to post non-profit and community events, which then appear on the website, in the weekly newsletter and on the app, subject to approval by the local publisher. Businesses can advertise through display ads, coupons, business listings and calendar sponsorships in print and online.
The Town Planner brand started in 1986, when Larry Paulozzi created the first calendar for communities near Cleveland, Ohio.
