About
The Tri-State Growth & Commerce Coalition (TGCC) is a regional 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Cumberland, Maryland, that works on economic development, transportation infrastructure, workforce growth, energy and natural resources, and next-generation leadership. It serves Allegany and Garrett Counties in Maryland, Somerset and Bedford Counties in Pennsylvania, and Mineral County in West Virginia.
The organization was previously known as The Greater Cumberland Committee. In 2024, at the prompting of its Corporate Council members, it took its current name to reflect a regional focus across three states and five counties while keeping the TGCC initials. Its motto is One Region, One Vision, One Future.
TGCC brings together leaders from industry, business, government and community organizations through work groups. The I-68 Regional Alliance builds relationships and aligns efforts among leaders across the tri-state region. The Education & Workforce Development work group connects schools, private industry, government and nonprofits on strategies for a career-ready workforce. The Energy & Natural Resources work group leads initiatives on the region's energy and natural resource needs.
The North South Appalachian Highway System work group advocates for regional transportation priorities, including US 219, US 220, the Cresaptown Improvement Project and the Appalachian Development Highway System. The coalition's roadmap includes pressing for planning and engineering funds for the remaining 1.5 miles of US 219 North in Maryland.
