UPMC Western Maryland is a nonprofit acute-care hospital in Cumberland, Maryland, that provides health care for residents of Allegany and Garrett Counties and the surrounding counties in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
The hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. These include a cancer center (UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and the Schwab Family Cancer Center), a robotic surgery program, a neurosurgery operating suite and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit. It also offers women's health, UPMC Primary Care, UPMC Urgent Care locations and UPMC Western Maryland Neurosurgery.
Heart care is provided through the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, and the hospital offers the only open-heart surgery in Maryland west of Baltimore.
The hospital also runs community health and wellness programs and conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment every three years. It is part of UPMC, the Pittsburgh-based health system. Michele R. Martz is the hospital's president.
