Wild Yough Glamping Huts is a small, seasonal glamping site at 1976 Herrington Manor Rd outside Oakland, set on more than 350 acres of private land along the Youghiogheny River. It suits couples, small families and groups who want a heated hut and a campfire without pitching a tent, with Herrington Manor State Park less than a mile away.
The Huts
There are five huts, one of them listed as ADA accessible: four cozy cabin-style huts and a Delta tipi. Each has a double or queen bed plus a pullout or extra seating bed, along with a cooking center with stove, a dining table, LED lighting and a propane heater. Outside you get porch chairs, a picnic table and a fire ring with a cooking grill. Bring your own food; firewood is sold on site. Huts rent individually, or a group can take the whole site.
Shared Spaces
Restrooms are shared. The bathhouse has full-size showers, plus outdoor water and deep sinks for doing dishes, and an outside spigot that comes in handy for rinsing off a muddy dog. The pavilion has lounge furniture, picnic tables, a book exchange, board games, charging outlets and local information, and there is a large field for lawn games. The bathhouse is maintained with OffLake Rentals, which also handles bookings.
On the River
The Youghiogheny is a state-designated wild and scenic river, and it runs right through the property. Trails cover most of the acreage for hiking and biking, and a trail leads down to the water. There is no motorized access, so you carry canoes, kayaks or tubes down and back up the steep banks. Smallmouth bass fishing is a draw.
Before You Go
The huts are open April through October, with a two-night minimum on the cabins. Up to two dogs per hut are welcome, subject to a breed restriction, and they must be leashed near the huts and bathhouse. The last stretch of road is rough, and parking is next to your site. Check current fire restrictions before your stay.
Pack your paddle and a cooler, and you are set for a weekend on the Yough.
