Yoder's Fabric

Yoder's Fabric is a family-run Amish fabric shop on Mason School Road in Oakland, less than a mile off US 219. Quilters, sewists and embroiderers come here for a deep selection of bolts and supplies, the kind of in-person browsing that's hard to find in a rural county.

A Shop With Family Roots

Ruth Yoder runs the shop today, carrying on the business her parents started around 1970. It's an Amish shop with no website, email or online fabric sales. If you can't make it in person, you can call to ask about mail orders. Payment is cash or check only, so come prepared.

What's on the Shelves

A 2023 visit counted more than 750 bolts of fabric. That much choice means you can match colors and textures for a quilt in one trip:

• Quilting cottons, including Northcott blenders, large and small prints, solids and tone-on-tones
• Batiks and wide backings
• Fleece, flannel and poly-cotton dress fabrics
• Notions, laces and trims
• Embroidery floss in a wide color range, plus Jack Dempsey Needle Art pre-printed embroidery kits
• Handmade rag items

You'll find the shop at 4166 Mason School Road, Oakland. Bring cash or a checkbook, and give yourself time to look through the bolts.
